I was at the game yesterday evening and have found out a little more about the young man concerned,(Sam Lake) he was released by Colchester United at YTS level, due to limited places available on the YTS scheme. He played for Wakering under 16s last season (and being the highest goal scorer) and has by passed the under 18s and reserves to enter the first team squad only 2 weeks ago. I must say i was very impressed by his maturity playing against first class defenders who seemed at least 4 or 5 years older. But the goal when it came was first class that i believe many professionals would have loved to have laid claim to. He was only given the last 20 mins and what a display, can see a young man with a bright future ahead.

If the lad is that impressive, perhaps Stimmo should keep an eye on him with a view to giving him a trial at our level. I'm sure our Club will be alert to the possibility!
