Academy affected by cold snap - matches called off

The continuing sub-zero temperatures have made the pitches at The Academy unplayable, affecting all of our teams due to play this weekend

Pitch inspections on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday have seen no change in the condition of the playing surfaces, which remain frozen.

Reserve team assistant manager David Raven was resigned to the postponement of Saturday's visit of league leaders Barking, "I have inspected the pitch myself on Wednesday and Thursday night and it was rock hard. We had a cracking game against Barking last weekend and were looking forward to playing them with a full-stength squad but the freezing conditions we have had will continue into the weekend and the pitch is dangerous in this condition. The last thing we wanted to do was miss this game, but we have to respect the decision of the ground staff, who do a fantastic job here at The Academy, and look forward to playing Barking later in the season."
