September 07, 2007
Salisbury City boss Nick Holmes has won the Blue Square “Manager of the Month” award for August.
Holmes guided his newly promoted team to three wins and two draws as they had an unbeaten start to the season. City averaged two goals per game as they registered wins against established Blue Square Premier sides Ebbsfleet United, Crawley Town and Woking. The award was judged by a panel of experts including Setanta commentator Paul Parker. Parker had this to say about Holmes: “Salisbury surprised a lot of people with their fantastic start to the season, they have shown that they can cope with the step up to this level.”
In the Blue Square South the award goes to Bath City manager John Relish. Bath went on a run of four wins without conceding a single goal after opening the season with a 1-1 draw at Bromley.
Mark Cooper the Kettering Town manager scooped the award in the Blue Square North. Cooper‘s team produced a 100% record of five wins in five games. The highlight of their month was a 6-0 demolition of Vauxhall Motors, which helped them average three goals per game during the opening weeks of the season.
