Reserve Fixture Postponed

Due to last Saturdays FA Cup match against Lewes being drawn and the replay taking place on Wednesday 31st October @ 19:30 the Pontin‘s Holiday Combination fixture against Milton Keynes Dons this evening has been postponed, once a new date is confirmed it will be placed on the web site.

F.A. Cup 4th Round Qualifying Replay

Due to the game between Grays Athletic and Lewes ending in a 1-1 draw the replay will take place at The Dripping Pan on Wednesday 31st October @ 19:45, the game will be decided on extra time and penalties if the replay is drawn after 90 minutes.
The winner of the fixture will play Mansfield Town FC at the Field Mill Ground on Saturday 10th November 2007

New Defender At The Rec

Grays Athletic have signed Left sided Defender, Jack Obersteller, on short term loan from Wycombe Wanderers, Jack started out at Millwall where he made his way from the youth set-up to the reserves where he was a regular in the second string, he had a short loan spell with Crawley town last season before signing a one year contract for Wycombe Wanderers.

The draw for the Third Round of the FansFocus.Com Essex Senior Cup was made this afternoon at B.B.C. Essex‘s New London Road Headquarters. The home clubs for the fixtures, which must be completed by Saturday 10 November 2007, were drawn by Ian C. Walmsley, C.E.O. of Isdoo Media, who run FansFocus.Com, whilst the away teams were plucked from the hat by Matt Joseph, formerly of Leyton Orient, who is the F.A. Skills Coach Leader for Essex.

Grays Athletic have been drawn at home against Blue Square South leaders, Lewes, in the 4th Round Qualifying stage of the F.A. Cup, this match will be played at The New Recreation Ground on Saturday 27th at 15:00
This game is an ALL PAY game including Season Ticket Holders

Grays Athletic would like to welcome John Yems to the position of First Team Coach, John has a wealth of experience which includes coaching at Millwall and Fulham, he also helped fellow BSP team Crawley Town to avoid relegation as their First Team Coach last season.
John will be a welcomed addition in this role and will work with Justin to turn the team around

Sunday 21st October at 12:00 will see the Essex Ambulance Service take on the Hertfordshire Ambulance Service in a Charity match at The New Recreation Ground.
Ticket prices are:

Following a meeting between Mick Woodward, Justin Edinburgh, Jimmy Dack & Gary Philips it was decided with regret that we have relieved Jimmy Dack of his coaching role.
John Yems will now take over the coaching role at Grays Athletic Football club; John is a former coach at Millwall and Fulham.
Justin Edinburgh remains as first team manager and with Mick Woodward‘s input and desire all the staff will work as a group to put this club back at the top.
Grays Athletic would like to take this opportunity to thank Jimmy Dack for all he has done during his time with the club and wish him all the best for the future

Blue Square Premier Fixture Changes

Due to the Conference agreeing the Play-Off Semi-Final & Final dates, We have been informed that the last two fixtures of the season in the BSP will be brought forward.
Changes are as follows:
Grays Athletic vs Salisbury City will now be played on Tuesday 22nd April @ 19:45

Fixture Change For Setanta Sports

The fixture between Aldershot Town and Grays Athletic which was due to be played on Saturday 24th November 2007 has now been changed to Thursday 22nd November 2007 @ 19:30.
This change is due to the match now being televised live on Setanta Sports, for those who cannot get to the game don‘t forget that you can watch all the live matches in the Club Bar.

Blue Square Announce “Player of the Month” Winners for September

September was an exciting month for all three Blue Square leagues, which saw an unprecedented number of goals. Games in the Blue Square Premier averaged over three goals per game. There were a number of exciting comebacks and last minute dramas littered throughout the fixture list.
Contributing to the excitement with 8 goals in 8 games was Forest Green striker Stuart Fleetwood who has been voted by fans as the Blue Square Premier “Player of the Month”. Stuart was in remarkable form towards the end of the month and he netted 5 times in 2 games as his side overcame Stevenage and Cambridge United at home. Fleetwood finished the month at the head of the scoring charts, with his team on the edge of the play-off positions.

Blue Square Announce “Manager of the Month” Winners for September

Aldershot Town boss Gary Waddock has won the Blue Square “Manager of the Month” award for September. The Shots completed an unbeaten run for the month with a 1-1 draw at Cambridge United, after six successive victories. In a fabulous few weeks for the division, which saw an unprecedented number of goals, Aldershot contributed to the excitement with their own tally of twenty in seven games. The highlight of that period was a 5-0 home thrashing of Northwich Victoria. The award is judged by a panel of experts including Setanta Blue Square Premier pundit Paul Parker. Parker had this to say about Waddock: “Gary Waddock has impressed in the early months of his first season at the club, their away record is outstanding and should see them in a healthy position come May”.
