Blues Manager gives us his views of the last week of football

The last week saw us come up against Met Police twice in three days. A team who I thought were very well organised and were very dangerous on the counter attack. Both games were very tight which reflected the 1-0 score lines. The home fixture I didn’t think we did enough to win the game, but if we had come away with a draw I wouldn’t have felt it was unjust. The work rate was there but I just feel we were a little slow in transition and moving the ball in the final third. We created a couple of chances in the final 10 minutes and could have snatched a point at the end with their defender not knowing much about the block on the line.

What better way to put the wrongs right than having the opportunity to play the same team 3 days later? We identi- fied their strengths and had a game plan to exploit their weaknesses. It was important that we were very disciplined in terms of shape. It was a credit to the players in terms of the commitment they showed throughout the 90 minutes. To go to a team who we lost to earlier in the week, who were previously unbeaten at home and who are looking good for the play offs shows fantastic character. The first half performance was one of the best since I have been in charge and even though we were under pressure for the majority of the second half I don’t feel they had many clear cut chances and we thoroughly deserved our victory. I have positives for every player but the back four plus Goughy were exceptional throughout. Just to clear up the goal, how I would love to give it to Jey Siva but he is clutching at straws if he thought he could claim that, it also covers us in terms of any goal bonuses we
may have to pay!!

Myself and the team look forward to seeing you all at Mill Field this coming Saturday as we take on Leiston in the Ryman Premier league
