Supporters meet to discuss the new day to day running of a supporters run Grays Athletic

At a Supporters Meeting on 27th April 2016, Grays fans were advised of the club’s intention to transfer ownership of the day-to-day running and financial budgeting of the football side of business to a supporters run organisation.

Andy Swallow has given the go ahead for this transfer to proceed and is taking action to ensure that the financial position of the club is such that the FA will consider giving consent for this to take place.

The supporters would like to pass on their sincere thanks to Andy for his massive contribution to Grays Athletic Football Club . Firstly for his commitment to keeping the club alive over the past seven seasons and for now giving the football side of Grays Athletic back to the supporters in order for them to have an opportunity to shape the way in which the club operates going forward.

Whilst Andy is stepping back from the business of the club, he still remains completely focused on securing the long term future of Grays Athletic and will continue his meetings with the authorities and his partners in order to pursue the new stadium that the club needs to ensure its survival for future generations. Additionally, he has offered his full support and guidance to the fans in respect of the assistance they may need when taking ownership of the club

The club are working closely with Supporters Direct in order to ensure that all of the necessary documentation is completed and submitted by the end of May to enable the transfer of ownership to be considered.

It is intended that, with the consent and support of trust members and fans, a new controlling company, Grays Athletic Community Football Club Ltd will evolve from the Grays Athletic Supporters Trust. This company will be 100% owned by the fans.

As you can imagine there are a few areas where we are waiting for clarification but good progress is being made.

Once this transfer has been agreed in principle, a further series of meetings are planned in order to select members to form a new board and to fulfil other key positions within the club.
