Affectionately known as "DD" the young striker has impressed players and coaching staff alike since joining the squad for pre-season training and he was signed by the club after last night's match against Brentwood Town at The Academy.

Blues manager Jody Brown has tracked his progress for some time and when the opportunity presented itself the young striker was signed for Heybridge Swifts from Barking, a club where Dee was clearly making an indelible impact.

After reflecting on Blues three games in four days Brown said "after impressing in Monday and Tuesday's games, we managed to agree a deal for DD. He is a young player with all the raw attributes to do very well. The development I've seen him over the last six months suggests he has a bright future and in time can become a great asset to Grays Athletic."

Blues fans may remember DD after his good performance against us in the Essex Senior Cup game in January 2013.
