Goals from James Bunn and Joe Sweeney secured Blues’ fifth consecutive league win which saw them climb above Tilbury into fourth place.

Hakan Hayrettin started with the same team that lined up against Ware last week, with Stephen Ikumelo at right back, and Bradley Thomas again partnering Grant Cooper in the centre of defence.

Blues took the lead in the 5th minute as James Bunn controlled a loose ball into the area and fired home from 12 yards. Nathan Gordon had an excellent opportunity to double the lead moments later, however he fired against the ball from a similar distance.

Tony Tucker saved well when faced against a Heybridge attacker, however the remainder of the first half went by without too much incident.
Bradley Thomas went close early in the second half with a headed effort, whilst Tucker again saved well from Luke Callander.

The manager changed from his recently favoured 4-5-1 to 4-4-2 as Joe Sweeney came on for Stephen Ikumelo, whilst Jean Michel-Sigere replaced a tiring James Bunn.

With the clock ticking down, Sigere tussled with Heybridge right back Ashley Cole following a throw-in, and with the ball seemingly heading out for a goal kick the Frenchman laid the ball across for Sweeney to tap in from close range to seal the win; that goal being Sweeney's tenth for the club.

With Tilbury losing at home to next Saturday’s opponents AFC Sudbury, Blues climbed above them into fourth place in the table. Harlow Town and Redbridge secured home wins against Brentwood Town and Ware respectively to ensure the race for the play-offs continues.

Needham Market remain in third following their 1-0 home win against Waltham Forest, whilst Leiston extended their lead at the top of the table after twice coming back from losing positions away at Ilford to eventually win 3-2. Enfield Town suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at Maldon & Tiptree, and are now seven points behind the Suffolk leaders.

There is no change at the bottom with defeats for the bottom three, leaving Great Wakering Rovers and Ware in the relegation places.
