Former Burnley, Reading, Wrexham and Wealdstone player Glenn Little joined the Blues at the start of the season as part of Jody Brown's transformation of the squad.
His virtuoso performances, personality and leadership on and off the pitch won him an army of admirers from the terraces to the board room. More recently, a persistent achilles injury has curtailed his appearances and affected his performances on the pitch which had led him to consider finally hanging up his boots.
Little stepped in as assistant manager for tonight's league cup match at Barkingside and shortly after helping steer the side to a narrow 1-0 he made an emotional announcement to a stunned dressing room.
It is understood Little may join former Blues manager Jody Brown at Welling United.
