Grays Athletic v Peacehaven & Telscombe
Grays continue there Ryman Premier League campaign this weekend on SUNDAY, yes
that's right, SUNDAY as they welcome newly promoted Peacehaven & Telscombe to
Mill field, Aveley. The game kicks off on 31st August at 3pm as Aveley have a home FA Cup
tie the previous day.
Peacehaven have had a mixed start to their first season in the Ryman Top flight that
currently sees them sitting in 17th position, 3 places and 3 points below the Blues. The highs
include beating Tonbridge Angels 4-1 at home, who were in Conference South last season,
but there was three defeats in a row after that. Canvey beat them 1-0, Dulwich 3-1 and then
a heavy 5-0 defeat after the long journey up to Suffolk to face Leiston. Last Monday though,
Peacehaven managed to steady the ship with a credible 1-1 draw at home to Bognor Regis
Town. A few players have chipped in with goals so far but keep an eye on strikers Josh
Jones and Tom Burton.
Grays Athletic come into this game full of confidence being unbeaten in their last four
games, the last two being victories over Hampton & Richmond and AFC Hornchurch. Jamie
Guy scored the winner against Hornchurch and now has three goals in as many games
since re-signing for the club and will look to continue this run on Sunday. Another forward in
contention is Leroy Griffiths who has decided to stay and fight for his place in the team
despite interest from Hampton & Richmond who had put in a seven day approach or the
veteran striker. One player who will not feature is Lloyd Harrington who his ACL last Monday
against Hornchurch and will unfortunately miss the remainder of the season.
