Big Derby match as the blues take on Tilbury in the annual cup match

The big Thurrock derby is back tonight (29) as Grays travel to Chadfields in the annual Stan Veness Memorial Trophy clash.
The first Stan Veness Trophy tie was in 1987 after Jeff and Fred Saxton of Grays suggested that the two clubs should play a match in remembrance of one of a supporter and Committee Member, Stan Veness, who had recently passed away. Ever since then, Grays have won the majority of games with there being only 3 draws and a Tilbury win on penalties.
Last years match saw Grays edge past Tilbury in a 2-1 thriller at Chadfileds.
The blues will be looking to bounce back after Sundays 2-1 defeat at the hands of Aveley FC in the inaugural Millers Challenge Cup at Millfield.
Manager Jody Brown has told fans that they will begin to see our genuine first team squad competing as the team near's the season's opening fixture on Wednesday 9th August.

We look forward to seeing our fantastic supporters at the match.
