The Blues travel to Witham in the Ryman Premier league. Match report from Michael Parker

Witham Town v Grays Athletic
Grays Athletic travel to Spa Road on Tuesday night to face newly promoted Witham Town as
the Ryman Premier League season continues. The sides have met in league fixtures before
in Grays Athletic's Ryman North championship season 2012/13. The games were both tight
affairs with the game at Rush Green finishing 1-1 and the away trip at Witham finished 0-0.
Witham have been a club on the rise in recent years, in 2011/12 they won the Essex Senior
League and in 2013/14 Witham Town finished runners up in Ryman North and defeated
Needham Market and Harlow Town to win promotion via the play offs. This rise has
coincided with the appointment of manager Gary Kimble, who also has represented Grays
as a player in the past.
Their start to life in the Premier Division has seen a steady start with draws against Lewes
and Bury before getting a first win under their belts away to Hampton & Richmond Borough
which has left them in eleventh place in the early season league table. Players to look out
for are Lewis Godbold and Tom Wraight who have scored two goals each this season.
Grays come into the game after gaining the first goal and point of the season last Saturday
against Leatherhead. Freddie Ladapo has got his first competitive goal for the blues and
could start alongside new signing Jamie Guy. Guy has represented Grays in the conference
and returned to the club last week and made come on as a substitute against Leatherhead.
In the defence there could be a debut for new signing Manny Parry. Parry was a young
professional with Premier League side Stoke City but in recent times has played for Weston
Super Mare and Maidenhead United in conference south.
For fans who want to attend the game, it kicks off on Tuesday 19th August at 7:45pm. The
address is
Witham Town FC, Spa Road, Witham, Essex, CM8 1UN
