Thank You - Board Changes

Thank You - Board Changes

GAFC News17 May 2013 - 19:25

This is the Lyndon Johnson moment for me, becuase for all the world ... etc etc. Following a Board meeting earlier this week, the club annouce

the following changes. Andy Swallow will step own as CEO following the Under-18s final at Beaconsfield next week, his business partner Joel Nathan will thereafter takeover the role. Everyone that knows me, also knows how I feel about Andy. His drive, enthusiasm for the club as a whole, but for the youth in particular, and in trying to provide opportunities for them that simply weren't around thiry to fourty years ago is to his irrefutable credit. We know the story as to how he ended up here, but his blood runs as blue as it does claret & blue these days, and I hope everyone will join me in simply saying; thank you mate. We all recognise that his thoughts will never be far away from what we are trying to achieve on and off the pitch. Andy has some issues to deal with away from the football club during the summer, which will occupy his time, and I personally applaud the decision that he has taken, and needless to say I wish him well, and eagerly await his return to the club.
As part of the restructring Andy's son Danny Swallow joins the board in the position of Vice-Chairman, and I look forward to demonstrating to him, just exactly how not to do the job, as that served me so well in the past!
Steve Pepperrell is replaced as Vice-Chairman, this has been a difficult season for Steve, following Val's decision to resign early in the season. However he has continued to lend his support to the club and to me personally throughout. Steve was on the staff when I joined, and he has worked for and with me ever since. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his efforts.
The final change sees Andrew Packer take over the Secretary role from myself, on one hand its a case of square pegs in square holes, because let's face it I've made a few mistakes this year, on the other hand it means that instead of me being the somewhat rotund geezer on the right hand side of the team photo next year, it will be Andrew!

Other than that as the saying goes ... nothing changes!
