Leiston moved on to 66 points with a 1-0 win away at Thamesmead Town courtesy of Gareth Heath’s early strike, whilst Enfield Town won their 12th home league game in succession as they overcame Chatham Town 3-0, with Dean Pennant scoring the final goal in injury time. That win leaves them two points behind the leaders, and 12 points ahead of third placed Needham Market.
Saturday’s visitors to Rookery Hill, Harlow Town, lost 2-1 at Redbridge leaving them a single point ahead of the Blues in 4th position. A Danny Brown penalty gave the visitors a 17th minute lead, however two goals in six minutes for The Motormen, one from former Blue Lewis Dark, saw them climb into 9th five points outside the play off places. As a result, just six points now cover 3rd to 10th in the table.
The other two results in the division saw Waltham Abbey win 5-2 at home to Soham Town Rangers, and Great Wakering Rovers won 2-0 at Ware. The win at Wodson Park was just Rovers’ fourth league win of the season, and their first since early October when they beat Ilford.
Elsewhere, our landlords won through to the League Cup final thanks to a 1-0 win at home to Lewes. They will face Bury Town in the final, after they beat Lowestoft Town 2-0.
Thurrock’s miserable run of results at home continued as they lost 1-0 to Farnborough. They have now picked up just 7 points from their 16 matches at Ship Lane, without recording a single win.
