A tense first half ended 0-0 but a more open second period saw the young Blues go ahead through goals from Jay Knight and Dan Gilchrist. Heath pulled one back with ten minutes to go before Gilchrist capped a fine performance by scoring twice more to complete his hat-trick.

A delighted Andy Swallow said "they [Colney] made it hard for us early on then pegged us back after we went 2-0 up but we never panicked, stuck to the game plan and Dan [Gilchrist] got two more goals to make it comfortable in the end."

Grays Athletic now face two more cup finals to be played at Rush Green next week and hopefully add their own slice of history to an already excellent season for the club.
