Tomorrow (Saturday 20 January 2018) Blues travel to Coles Park in North London where they meet Haringey Borough in a Bostik League North Division fixture hoping to build on their 3-1 win against AFC Sudbury last Saturday. Blues will include in the squad new signing keeper Charlie Burns.
The Opposition
Haringey were formed in 1973 following a merger between Edmonton and Wood Green Town and were initially known as Edmonton and Haringey becoming Haringey Borough in the 1975/6 season. This is their second season at this level having been promoted from the Essex Senior League. Last season they finished fifth in the league going on to lose in the playoff semi finals 5-4 to Maldon and Tiptree.
In their current squad they have experienced striker Derek Asamoah who as recently as the 2016/7 season was playing league football for Carlisle United. Signed during this season, he has already registered 4 goals. Blues' fans will remember another striker Chris Benjamin who enjoyed a successful time with us. Leading goalscorer this season is Ralston Gabriel with an impressive 22 goals - three of which were against Blues earlier in the season.
In The Past
There have only been two previous meetings between the sides - both ending in high-scoring draws. The first a pre season friendly in July 2011 resulting in a 4-4 draw - the second earlier this season at Parkside on the 25th October 2017 finishing all square at 3-3. On that occasion Haringey arrived at Parkside unbeaten in the league but were stunned when Blues raced into a 2-0 half time lead with goals from Jamie Slabber and Ade Cole. Ralston Gabriel reduced the arrears shortly after the break, but then Cole added a third - only to see Haringey grab two late late goals courtesy of Gabriel to complete his hat trick and maintain their unbeaten run.
