Blues make the long journey to Norfolk this Saturday when they meet Norwich United in a Bostik North Division league game. Both teams enjoyed victories in their last outings, Blues running out 3-1 winners against Bury Town and Norwich who beat fellow Bostik league side Dereham Town 4-0 in the Norfolk Senior Cup Semi Final with Adam Hipperson registering a hat trick.
Blues will be looking to extend their current unbeaten run having run into a rich vein of form since the turn of the year .
In Opposition
Norwich play at Plantation Park in Blomfield five miles to east of the city of Norwich - their home ground since the 1991/2 season. The Planters currently lie in 22nd place with 29 points from 32 games . After a difficult start they have seen something of a revival recently winning 3-1 at Ware in their last league outing and with only three defeats in their last eleven league games with an excellent win against league leaders AFC Hornchurch back in December.Leading goalscorer is Adam Hipperson with 12 league goals. The Planters have been boosted by the recent signing of 22 year old defender Harry Barker from Lowestoft Town having made 129 appearances for the Trawlermen.
In The Past
Saturday will be only the fourth meeting between the teams having previously met twice in cup competitions and just once in the league . Blues have been victorious in the three previous meetings the first of which was an FA Cup 1st Qualifying round at Rush Green on the 8th September 2012. Blues ran out 2-1 winners that day with goals from Joe Sweeney and Joao Carlos with Justin Fox replying late in the game for Norwich.This season saw the teams meet again in a cup tie this time the FA Trophy Preliminary Round on the 7th October. Blues raced into a 4-1 half time lead.
Kieran Bishop netted a brace for Blues with further strikes from Stan Muguo and Joao Carlos, Liam Jackson replying for the Planters. Norwich mounted something of a fightback in the second half with goals from Adam Hipperson and Adam Probert , Blues hanging on to win 4-3.
December 9th saw the teams meet in the league with ten men Blues winning 2-1 after the dismissal of Jack Fowler early in the first half. Bishop and Carlos scored for Blues with Hipperson replying for Norwich.
