Blues return to league action tomorrow Saturday 15th September when they make the short journey to the Arena to meet Brentwood Town. The Town's last outing saw them bow out of the FA Cup by three goals to two after their opponents Haringey Borough scored two late goals to clinch the tie. Our own Blues saw them in Velocity Cup action against Witham Town in midweek in a game where they dominated proceeding for the majority of the game but failed to find the back of the net and succumbed in the resultant penalty shoot out.
Due to Brentwood's cup exploits they have only played three league games with a 1-0 defeat to Maldon & Tiptree, a 1-0 win over Barking and a 1-1 draw against Great Wakering Rovers leaving them in 12th place with four points - the same number as Blues but with a superior goal difference. In the corresponding fixture last season the teams played out a 1-1 draw with both goals coming early in the first half Alfie Hilton putting Town ahead in the 7th minute , Ade Cole quickly replying for Blues in the 14th minute. Blues currently hold the upper hand in their six visits to the arena winning four, with one draw and one defeat.
Brentwood will provide a tough test for Blues who will be looking to return to winning ways after some disappointing displays so far this season but if they can harness the same energy and commitment with more decisiveness in front of goal as they showed in mid week then they are capable of coming away with a win. The only confirmed non starter for Blues is Joao Carlos who serves the second of his three match ban following dismissal at home to Maldon & Tiptree.
