It's cup time again tomorrow Saturday 13th October when Blues host Bostik league newcomers Sevenoaks Town in the FA Trophy , Blues having progressed to this stage with an impressive 3-1 at Felixstowe Town two weeks ago, Oaks received a bye to this round. Tomorrow will also be the first time the teams have met in any competition.
Oaks enjoyed an impressive 2017/8 campaign winning twenty-seven of their thirty-eight league games with just four defeats to see them crowned champions of the Southern Counties East League finishing six points clear of runners up Whitstable Town, both clubs subsequently promoted to the Bostik League South East Division. Oaks are managed by ex Millwall, Charlton , Gillingham and Dartford striker Micky Collins.
A difficult start to their debut season in the Bostik League saw them pick up just one point from their first five games but they have enjoyed an upturn in form with two wins and two draws from their last four games leaving then in fourteenth place with nine points. In midweek they were beaten 3-0 by Tonbridge Angels in the Velocity Cup. Frankie Sawyer is Oaks leading league scorer with four goals.
Blues go into the game protecting a five game unbeaten run . Last Saturday saw them race into 3-0 half time lead against Great Wakering Rovers but were pegged back eventually running out 4-3 winners. Blues form has picked up considerably in the last few weeks and Jamie Stuart will be looking for his charges to progress into the next round of a competition he has won on two occasions. Another two time Trophy winner is Dennis Oli who could be making his 125th start in Blues colours.
