The Blues travel to Cricklefield for their first competitve away game of the season on Wednesday, where they face Waltham Forest.

Waltham Forest are coming off a 3-2 away win over Soham Town Rangers, whilst Grays defeated Ware 4-0 at Rookery Hill on Saturday.

The Stags welcome back former-manager, Hakan Hayrettin, who started his managerial career with the club before moving onto Thurrock in 2006. This will be his first competitive match against his former club.

Glen Kendal who started last season with Grays may well line up for Waltham Forest. Kendal only made a total of four appearances for the Blues, starting just once, ironically against Waltham Forest in the 1-0 Isthmian League Cup First Round defeat in September 2010.

Another familiar face is former youth product, Josh Green who was previously captain of the under-18's. His only first team appearance was in the Essex Senior Cup defeat to Heybridge Swifts in January 2008. Green was a regular for Grays in the reserve side during the 2007/08 season, which played in the Football Combination - along with Football League and other Conference reserve teams. Both players started in the win over Soham Town.

The last time Grays met Waltham Forest was in the league, where the Blues ran out 4-0 winners at Rookery Hill on 12 March 2011, with goals from Duran Reynolds, Danny Morgan, John Docker and Jared Small. Forest's goalkeeper, Jason Willis was sent off in the 45th minute.

Kick-off is at 19:45 at:
Cricklefield Stadium
