Whitstable Town, nicknamed the Oystermen, finished last season in 15th place in the Ryman Division One South, nine points clear of the drop zone. Last Saturday they played local rivals Herne Bay for the Bruce Smith Shield, losing out 2-0.
Manager Peter Nott has recently stated he's after another striker to bolster his attack. Meanwhile, former Hornchurch and Bethnal Green United midfielder James Morrish has joined the Oystermen. Jermaine Darlington joined the club late in the 2010/11 season, signing for the club in March providing Whitstable Town with experience and cover having played for QPR, Wimbledon, Watford, Cardiff City amongst others.
