Grays Athletic were knocked out of the county cup following a close fought battle for 70 minutes, Grays went 2-0 down in the first 20 minutes of the game even though they looked the more dominant team, 4 minutes later Johnson grabbed the first of his brace, Wickford then struck again against the run of play to make it 3-1 then on 37 minutes Umfreville latched onto a ball on the left of the keeper and placed it over his head into the net, Grays went into half time 3-2 down.
Within 12 minutes of the second half Johnson struck again to level the scores, the game swung from side to side and was a great entertaining match until a strange 3 minutes when Wickford bagged 3 goals one minute apart.
Grays never gave up and kept chasing the goals but were unfortunate not to get back into the game.
A fantastic game between two sides who showed great sportsmanship on and off the feild.

However, the boys strength and character shone through and they equalised a minute later, Josh beating the offside trap to slot the ball home.
A minute later Grays increased the lead with Tyler striking a free kick from about 25 yards into the top corner.
With a minute to go in the first half Grays went 3 up. A well taken free kick was floated over the Thurrock wall. Three Gray’s players beat the offside trap. Onye picked up the loose ball and calmly slotted it in.

The second half was a much tighter affair.
Grays left it until 3 minutes to go when Aaron struck a free kick on the edge of the ‘D’ into the net, the Thurrock keeper may have felt he could have done better in dealing with it.
With seconds to go Thurrock were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Grays area. The resulting strike was hit hard and low and evaded all in front of it to go in.

Grays Athletic 6 LTD Comets 1
Goalscorers: Ryan(5), Aron(pen)

Going into our 3rd league game of the season, (having won our first two matches 3 - 1 away to Lee Chapel Youth and 6 - 0 at home to Dunton Dynamos), we were feeling very confident. However, we were soon on the back foot after LTD took an early lead after only 5 minutes. However, 3 goals scored by Ryan and Alex saving an LTD penalty meant we were 3 - 1 up at half time.

The 2nd half was much of the same with Grays playing good football and 3 more goals followed. Ryan scored 2 more great goals and Aron then scoring a penalty to make it a final score of 6 - 1.

With this win, Grays Athletic have retained sole top position of the U11 Premier League.

A penalty was tucked away by Price after a Senrab defender handled in the area. The second half was nip and tuck with Senrab throwing defenders up to try and gain the equaliser. S.Pumfrett almost doubled the lead for Grays near the end but sent his shot wide of the goal. All the boys put in alot of effort and thoroughly deserved all 3 points.
