Grays Athletic 0 Gidea Park Rangers B 8
Following a victory last week, Grays were back to their losing ways, changes need to be made to the team ollowing this defeat, so far out of 7 league games they have only secured a single win, it is dissapointing for the players, management & parents, the game was won by a better organised and physical team, Grays realy need to knuckle down and start playing the football we know they are capable of.

Grays found form today to run out comfortable winners against Thurrock.
Grays opened the scoring on 2 minutes, great play and a pinpoint cross from Shea on the right found Rykie in the box who obliged with a perfect first time strike.
Thurrock equalised on 24 minutes when instead of playing to the whistle, Grays hesitated and conceded a scrappy goal.
Half time 1 : 1
Grays advantage was resumed 2 minutes into the second half, Aaron hitting a shot from the edge of the area that lofted over the keeper.
Anthony scored a goal on his debut, a crafted header beating the keeper.
George also scored his first goal for grays with a run and a looping shot from the right hand edge of the area.
Goal number 5 came on with 3 minutes to go when Charlie ran onto a quickly taken free kick from Anthony and beat the offside and a static defence.
With only 2 minutes to go Shea scored number 6. Good work and a pass from Onye setting Shea up for a fine finish.

Thurrock A 2 Grays Athletic 2
It was a clash of the 2 teams at the top of the Premier League today at Nutberry Football Pitches. Both teams went out playing to win and it was a non-stop game from beginning to end. Thurrock ended the 1st half 1 nil up. In the 2nd half it was much of the same, good football being played by both teams but Grays couldn't seem to find a way through to the back of the net. Thurrock then went and scored again, making the game 2 - 0. Luckily, the Grays Ath boys didn't let if affect their game and they played with their heads up and managed to claw back 2 goals before the full time whistle. The 1st goal was an own goal (although Ryan B will claim it as nobody likes to score in their own goal) and John A got the 2nd. That was a good goal coming all the way down the left side of the pitch from Alex the goal keeper, to Joe then Reece and then John A. All in all, if we couldn't win then a draw would do!! Grays Ath are still top of the Premier League table with Thurrock snapping at their heels still in 2nd place.

The boys celebrated their first win of the season today by playing a great game of football.
Samuel opened the scoring 5 minutes into the game followed by his second shortly after, with great passing from all the boys this was made 3 - 0 with a goal from Ben.W just before the half time whistle.
The second half was just as exciting as the first, the boys all playing really well. The defence held strong by Joe and Connor and Harry getting the 4th and Charlie keeping a clean sheet.
Well done boys, keep up the hard work.

We knew this would be a hard game from the off as Sheilds have only lost one game, Grays held them off in the first half but in the second half Sheilds came out very strong and scored 2 goals
Well done to all the boys and we have got Sheilds at home next week so lets look forward to the home game

Grays Athletic 4 Barn Sports A 1
Goalscorers: Timothy(1, 35, 56), Fenn(20)
On a bitterly cold and blustery Sunday afternoon Grays Athletic recorded their first win of the season, Grays opened the scoring after 1 minute when Timothy latched onto the ball and sunk it past the Barn Sports keeper, on 20 minutes Grays struck again this time Fenn placed his shot directly in the corner, Timothy got his brace on 35 minutes, Grays dominated the first half and went into the break 3-0 up.
The second half saw then playing into the wind and were not as dominant in the first half, Barn Sports really got into their game and were unlucky with several chances, 56 minutes into the game Timothy completed his hat-trick with a great run and delivery, Barn Sports were not out of the game and Grays had to defend deep to stop the continued attack, they did get a consolation goal on 78 minutes but time ran out for them.

Goalscorers: Aron(3), John A(2), Reece, Niall, Joe, Ryan B.
On 18th November, Grays Ath Under 11‘s travelled to Wickford for the 2nd Round in the League Cup. We got off to an unusual flying start (thanks to the strong wind assisting us!) and were 4 nil up by half time. Both teams started strongly again in the 2nd half and were playing good football. The end result on a very cold and windy day ended up being 9 - 0 to Grays Ath with all goals being finished perfectly.
Roll on Round 3! Grays Ath Under 11‘s are still top of the Premier League with no losses. They are having a great start to their season.

U10 ECHO LEAGUE TRENT DIVISION
Cowley Boys 1 Grays Athletic 4
Goalscorers: Klessa-Smith(2), Own Goal(2)
Cowley Boys belied their league position and gave the Grays boys a stiff test.
On a cold and windswept Wanstead Flats Grays struggled with the conditions and also an extremely bobbly pitch. Cowley scored with the wind with a crisp shot after we failed to clear the ball away from the penalty area. Klessa-Smith scored with 2 minutes to go of the first half , a strike from outside the box that seemed to swerve and deceive the opposing goalkeeper.
With the half-time score at 1-1 the boys regrouped and with the help of the wind came out fighting.Grays went into the lead early in the second half after a Cowley defender put into his own net from a corner. Klessa-Smith got his second from a long shot that went through the goalkeepers legs but Cowley still impressed with some fast forward play and the game was still in the balance.
Grays settled this encounter after a Price long throw went straight into the net but the goal was only deemed valid as the keeper helped the ball into the net. Another 3 points keeps the boys in top spot.
The boys face County Park at home next week to complete the first half of the season.

On a blustery remembrance Sunday you could have heard a pin drop during the one minute‘s prematch silence. Well done to the boys and adults alike.
In a match of few chances the deadlock was finally broken halfway through the second half.
Grays were awarded a free kick which Tyler took, the keeper parried the strike and Josh was there to nip and slot the ball into the net.

Goalscorers: Edmunds(3), Price(2), Klessa-Smith(2), S.Pumfrett, Stopher, M.Pumfrett(pen)
Grays were rampant in this friendly encounter against a poor Cosmos team from the Thundermite Venus Division. S.Pumfrett opened the scoring within 39 seconds after Bearman had hit the post and then set up Price for the second. Klessa-Smith added a third from long distance and Price added a fourth after a shot from S.Pumfrett was blocked.Stopher then belted in a fifth just before half-time. The second half was again one-way traffic as Edmunds struck a quick fire hat-trick and Klessa-Smith got his second from a tight angle. Defender M.Pumfrett got a rare goal from the penalty spot after a Cosmos defender caught the ball on the line.

Pegasus 0 Grays Athletic 2
Goalscorers: Edmunds, S.Pumfrett
The boys travelled to Hornchurch today in search of another 3 points to keep them at the top of the table. The game was a tough, hard fought, scrappy encounter and the Grays fluency seemed to be missing today.Edmunds scored 13 mins into the first half time neatly tucking the ball away at the far post. A minutes silence was observed at half-time on this day of remembrance and the game restarted in the same fashion as the first. With 5 minutes to go Bearman run down the left wing and passed to S.Pumfrett who took the ball around the opposing keeper and slotted the ball home. A well earned 3 points and we have another tricky away tie next week against Cowley Boys on Wanstead Flats.

Thurrock Panthers 1 - Grays Athletic Blue 1
Goalscorer: Gould
A generally lacklustre performance coupled with poor finishing saw Grays drop two points away to Thurrock Panthers on Sunday. Gould gave Grays a deserved league in the first half and really the game should have been wrapped up by half time. However Thurrock came back in the second half and grabbed an equaliser direct from a free kick.

Grays Athletic U16A played at home against Dagenham & Redbridge in the second round of the County Cup. Despite the fact that Dagenham, formerly Westward A, won the Premier Division of the Echo League last year, Grays put in a terrific performance and only went out to a late goal. The boys played today exactly how we knew they could, hopefully this is the kick-start to our season.

A further 4 goals were added in the second half with Mitchell scoring his first for the club. Lewis will claim the last 2 due to the lack of a dubious goals panel.

ECHO LEAGUE TRENT DIVISION
Grays Athletic 3 Cobra B 1
Goalscorers: Edmunds, Stopher, Price
Grays grabbed another well earned 3 points against a strong Cobra team who were vying for top spot if they had won.
The game started evenly with tackles coming in from both sides but Grays broke the deadlock after 10 mins of the first half. Edmunds collected the ball on the right wing and struck a low hard shot past the opposing keeper and this goal was the difference going into half time. Cobra came out fighting in the second half and equalised through their lively forward after a scramble in the Grays defence. After this setback the boys gained back their composure and soon retook the lead. With five minutes to go Price ran down the left and produced a great cross for Stopher who put the ball away at the far post. Grays were still not finished and Price again run through the defence and this time blasted the ball past the keeper at his near post.
Another 3 points today keeps the boys in top spot and another good performance away to Pegasus next week is a must.
Man-of-the-Match: Price
Chafford Hundred Lions 0 Grays Athletic Blue 2
Goalscorers: Jex, Hobbins
Although the scoreline might suggest otherwise this was, in truth, an easy victory against the top team. Grays again found their passing game and dominated from start to finish restricting Chafford Hundred to one effort on goal. Jex, with his sixth goal of the season, and new signing Hobbins put Grays 2 up and allowed them to settle and play the ball around. Although they should have added to the total it was still a good performance which puts them 3 points off of top spot with 2 games in hand.
