The boys played a great game of football against Aveley who are sitting at the middle of the table the same of us. It was a hard game and went into half time 0 - 0.
Going into the second half Ben.W opened the scoring 2 minutes in. Samuel followed this within a few minutes, making the score 2 - 0. Aveley put up a great battle but could not crack our defence.
What a great result just before Christmas. Well done boys, keep up the hard work.

Thurrock A 1 Grays Athletic 1
Goalscorer: Levett
It was deja vou this week as the same two teams met again, thankfully the result was different.
Grays went behind on 6 minutes, Thurrock scoring with their first attack, a free kick from outside the box.
It stayed 1 - 0 at half time.
A change of personnel and formation at half time saw a rejuvenated Grays step up a gear.
In the 5th minute of the second half Grays‘ efforts were rewarded. Aaron chased down a ball that looked destined for the keeper, however Aaron had other ideas and happily placed it in the net after the keeper fumbled.
Grays had more of the chances in the second half but Thurrock held firm. A late flurry from Thurrock threatened but came to nothing.
Final score 1 - 1

Grays Athletic 0 Chavedon Boys A 2
The boys played one of their best games of football this season, even though they did not win.
With the weather bad the boys still battled through and controlled the whole game, with some great chances but could not find the back of the net.
As the whistle went for half time the score was 0 - 0. Grays continued pushing forward and controlling the game in the second half but with Chalvedon being a strong team at the top of the table, they had a couple of chances and scored both times.
Their manager even commented at the end of the game that Grays were the better team and could not believe he had won as we were the stronger team and controlled the whole game.
Well done boys keep up the hard work.

Grays Athletic crashed out of the Chelmsford U15 Knockout Cup with a 5-0 beating from 1st Division Perry Street, having held them back to a 1-0 lead in the first half Grays threw away the game in the second half, playing a defensive 4-5-1 formation in the lashing rain and wind was still not enough to stop the onslaught.

Essex County Cup U12
Grays Athletic 2 Thurrock A 4
Goalscorer: Lewis Brown (2)
Grays went out of this seasons Essex County Cup after a below par performance in appalling conditions.
Thurrock scored on 7 minutes, a ball over a top finding a runner.
Grays equalised on 20 minutes, Lewis finishing from inside the box after good work from Aaron.
Thurrock scored again one minute later, Grays sluggish in clearing the ball.
Thurrock's lead only lasted 2 minutes, Lewis scoring his second from a cross from James.
Instead of building on the goal, Grays conceded again 3 minutes later, Grays players stopping thinking the ball had gone out of play.
Half Time Grays 2 - 3 Thurrock
The second half was a scrappy affair with both sides battling in the wind and rain. Lewis going close on a couple of occasions, including hitting the bar.
The game was effectively killed off halfway through the second half when Thurrock were awarded a penalty which was converted.
Grays were second best today, and must get this game behind them and go forward from here.

U10 ECHO LEAGUE TRENT DIVISION.
Grays Athletic 1 EMH “A” 1
Goalscorer: Klessa-Smith.
The severe weather hampered the boys progress at the top of the league but this point could be vital come the end of the season. With this being the only game going ahead on the St.Cleres complex it made the conditions even more bleak and dreary.
The game obviously was a scrappy affair and Grays had many chances in the first half but were unable to find that all important finish. The game was 0-0 at half-time and everyone concerned was now soaked to the skin so a quick turnaround was the order of the day.
A Klessa-Smith free-kick found the back of the net 2 minutes in and we looked like holding out for the 3 points. Unfortunately the boys then suffered the heartbreak of conceding the equaliser after the ball was not cleared from our area and the EMH attackers‘ shot somehow squirmed under our keeper.
A good point considering the conditions and the boys travel to East London next week to face second placed Rippleway in a real 6-pointer of a game.

Grays Athletic 1 Wickford Town Panthers 1
Goalscorer: Samuel
Both teams battled through the terrible weather, with Wickford putting up a good fight and going 1 nil up after a few minutes. Grays came straight back at them with Samuel leveling it after 10 minutes.
Going into the second half 1 - 1. Grays were the better side and had lot‘s of chances but due to the bad weather and the state of the pitch, Grays were unable to put the ball in the back of the net.
Well done boys, keep it up.
