Hutton 5 Grays Athletic 0

Grays were defeated by a stronger team, the conditions did not allow passing football and Hutton played the better route one style, some defensive and passing errors cost Grays the game, some of the team really need to start looking for options and not trying to play keep ball all the time. so far we have conceded 83 goals this season and with only 3 games left to play we could be looking at 3 figures.

Grays Athletic 3 County Park 2
Goalscorers: Price, Klessa-Smith, Edmunds.

The Champions completed their league campaign today with a hard-fought win against County Park in atrocious conditions.

Grays took the lead early in the first half. S.Pumfrett followed up a rebounded Bearman shot and passed to Edmunds who struck it hard and low into the net. County Park then equalised before half-time direct from a corner and the score was all square at half-time.

County Park then took the lead soon after the kick-off after hesitation in the Grays defence and the boys were looking at a shock defeat. Grays continued to press though and were soon level after Edmunds blocked shot was thumped home by Klessa-Smith. Four minutes later and Grays took the lead when Price won the ball on the halfway line and ran on to strike it past the opposing goalkeeper. Despite several other chances Grays could not add to the lead and everybody was happy when that final whistle sounded. Now the funs starts when the boys move up next season to play 11-a-side.

Thats more like it boys, well done. You all showed today that you can play football and may be that was your best performance in terms of actual football. We looked solid at the back and seem to be understanding the game much better. Elliot and Memo are proving to be a good pairing. Alfie was super today and always looked like causing trouble while on the wings the boys did very well and got foward well but also helped out at the back when needed. Liam our keeper had little to do really and was beaten by a fluke goal, but he stayed focused and is looking good.

Our captain Jack got the first with some good play by Alfie and some good skill by Jack to open them up, a smart left foot finish. Jack looked like he was enjoying himself today and so it proved as it was Jack who got the winner
that he made himself with some strong play and a good finish.

Well done lads much better from all of you, lets av it next season and see what happens. It has been a good season lads well done, from your manager Paul and your coach Darren. We would like to thank everyone that has helped us make this possible. Thanks..

Man of the Match: Jack..quality finishing..

Definitely a game of two halves today. We lost the first half 5-0 and drew the second half 2-2. A very poor performance from our boys, no-one seemed to have their football head on at all.

Goalscorer: Fenn

This was certainly a game of two halves, Grays played some sublime football in the first half and dominated the game, there were a few missed chances but Fenn opened the scoring midway through the half, the game was 1-0 at half time.

The second half Grays seemed to forget how to play, several missed tackles, headers etc cost them in the second half as Brandon Groves started to take the game to Grays, their tenacity paid off and they opened Grays up to dominate the second half with Grays conceding 5 goals.

Time is running out for Grays if they want to get themselves out of the bottom three and to salvage something from this season.

Rippleway “B” 0 Grays Athletic 3
Goalscorers: Price, Klessa-Smith, Le^Rogers

C-H-A-M-P-I-O-N-S C-H-A-M-P-I-O-N-S. That was the cry that echoed around West Ham Memorial Park today as Grays beat second-placed Rippleway in our penultimate match of the season, to clinch the championship.
The game was expected to be tough with both teams vying for top place but in the end Grays came out comfortable winners. The nerves were settled after 6 minutes when Bearman collected the ball in defence and slotted the ball along the line to Stopher who looked up and saw Klessa-Smith free in the area. A neat pass from Stopher was then clinically finished by Klessa-Smith in the bottom corner. Several chances from Price went agonisingly over the bar and the score stayed the same at half-time.

With so much at stake Rippleway came out even stronger in the second-half and tackles were flying in but Grays soon doubled their lead 5 minutes in. Le^Rogers took a throw-in which Price collected and in one swift movement he turned and unleashed a shot which sailed past the opposing keeper. Rippleway still sensed a comeback after hitting the crossbar with a long shot but then Klessa-Smith almost sealed the win for Grays but his shot also hit the bar. Klessa-Smith left the field ,injuring his wrist after a late tackle. This lead to the Rippleway player being asked to leave the pitch by the referee. But then the superb win was sealed when a clearance up field was collected by S.Pumfrett who laid the ball back to Edmunds. His pass through the Rippleway defence was collected by Le^Rogers who calmly slotted home netting his first league goal of the season. What a great time to get it !!!

At the finish the boys were ecstatic and they have deserved this trophy after a shaky start to the season (one loss and one draw in their first 2 games). This was turned around magnificently with a lot of hard work and effort and no further games were lost. With the best scoring record in the league (68 goals in 21 matches) and the best defensive record also (13 goals conceded in 21 games) it was no surprise that Grays Athletic U10‘s were crowned ECHO LEAGUE TRENT DIVISION CHAMPIONS 2007/08.

WELL DONE TO ALL THE BOYS, MANAGEMENT AND ALSO TO THE PARENTS FOR THEIR SUPPORT AND CONTRIBUTIONS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON.

Last League Game is at home to County Park

Grays played one of the top four teams this week and came out with the win. Both teams played a strong game but with good passing Samuel put the ball in the back of the net 8 minutes in.

The second half see the Grays boys come out with their heads held high but Coringham continued to battle hard, which kept Charlie busy and having to make lots of outstanding saves.

Well done boys, keep up the hard work.

Grays Athletic 0 Dunton Dynamos 2

Grays were poor today as we failed to compete with Dunton. We must improve on this result, we are better than this. We did create some chances and had our finishing been better we may have nicked it. Come on lads where‘s your fight gone...

Man of the Match: Connar..did well while others stuggled around him.

Grays continued playing their great football again this week even with no subs. Jake opened up the scoring with a goal within 3 minutes of kick off. They continued passing the ball well which led to Wesley getting his goal in the 10th minute. Ben.O made a brilliant cross which put the ball in the back of the net for the 3rd time in the 15th minute.
The second half see the boys still playing strong and having to play in different positions. this bagged them the win they deserved.

Well done boys, keep up the hard work.

Grays Athletic 0 LTD 3

Grays played out of their skin today. We battled well and gave a much better account of ourselves. We conceded early on but didnt give up and created a bit too. Silly mistakes are costing us badly and we must sort this out if we are to go on to better things. LTD are a good bench mark for us. Two silly goals we didnt deal with is realy all the game hinged on. All the boys gave me everything today, a real battle..well done lads.
