Blues Manager Mark Bentley looks back at Monday's 0-0 draw against Maidstone united

We continued our fine form on Monday against a very good Maidstone United side. It was probably the first game where I have really had to make some big decisions in regards to team selection. It's a part of the job which is tough and I know players who are not selected are going to be disappointed. I know because it was not long ago I was the disappointed one and the last thing you want to hear is the manager giving his reasons that you’re never going to agree with!

I would like to think the team I selected against Maidstone was justified by the performance we put in. We certainly had them on the back foot and caused them numerous problems in the final third.
I thought we were unlucky not to be winning at half time. With a tight 2nd half where neither team really threatened each other’s goal I would say a draw was prob- ably a fair reflection on the game. Again there were some outstanding performances - none more so than Manny and Sean at the back - who have quickly become a solid partnership. Bradley behind big DD I thought gave us a new option with some direct running in behind the defenders something which we have been missing in the squad and a major reason why it was great to have him back.
We are going to need all the fans to really get behind the lads over the next few weeks as there will be some tired bodies out there, so let’s make some noise!!

Have a great Easter and we look forward to seeing you all at our match against East Thurrock on Easter Monday
