This Saturday Grays are back on the road, this time in north-east London with a league trip to Haringey Borough. With their 3G pitch, the weather should, for once, not be an issue !
Relegated from the Premier Division at the end of last season, Haringey Borough have continued to struggle this year. They currently sit in 21st place with 20 points from 28 games. Their recent form has been difficult to weigh up, with three draws and four defeats in their last seven games. However, the losses have all been by the odd goal and scoring has not always been a problem.
Last Saturday, they followed the Blues up to Felixstowe and came away with a hard-earned point from a goalless draw - the first team to stop the Seasiders scoring at home this season.
Top scorer this season is Matthew Young with ten goals, chased hard with none by one of the Blues’ old adversaries, Derek Asamoah.
We have already met Haringey this season, at the end of November, when Grays ran out 2-0 winners, courtesy of a brace from Alejandro Machado. Prior to that games, the three previous encounters between our two teams - one friendly fourteen years ago and a pair of league fixtures in 2017/18 - had all ended in draws.
Blues have been badly hit by the inclement weather in recent weeks, and have struggled to get a run of games going. Hopefully, things will change soon. However, our record on 3G pitches in the league this season is exemplary with three wins from three games 4-0, 4-1 and 5-1.
Haringey’s home ground is at Coles Park, White Hart Lane, London N17 7JP.
Please note that the ground is inside the London ULEZ zone, so make sure your car is compliant (most are).
If you are unsure check here https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/
There is a car park adjacent to the ground, operated by a separate company. This costs £1 per hour and is paid either by the Phone & Pay app or by cash only at the pay machine. There is next to no on-street parking within the vicinity of Coles Park.
Public transport is either via Wood Green on the Piccadilly Line or White Hart Lane on the overground from Liverpool St. The W3 bus runs from both stations to outside the ground.
Come on you Blues !
