Time to Bring Grays Athletic Home

As many of our supporters will be aware 2020 will mark the clubs 10th year since leaving the Rec our home ground in the heart of Grays.

Since that dark day the club has led a rather nomadic life having played at East Thurrock's Rookery hill, a short spell at Rush Green, several seasons at Aveley FC's former home Mill Field and currently at the Millers current ground Parkside. The club will be forever grateful to East Thurrock and current landlords Aveley FC for their help over the ten years since being told to vacate The Rec. However there is no place like home!

It has been widely publicised that the clubs ultimate goal is to return to Grays in a purpose built community stadium, and talks continue with Thurrock council and potential developers to deliver that wish. Chairman Steve Skinner alongside Vice Chairman Glyn Jarvis are working tirelessly to bring the club home to Grays and although there are many hurdles progress is being made.

Without a home to call its own the longevity of the football club is at risk, currently the club rely's on gate sales, sponsorship and the generosity of its fantastic supporters, however for the club to continue its long standing place in the Thurrock community it needs a home ground sooner rather than later.

Since becoming supporter owned in 2016 the club has grown ten fold. We now have over 500 players playing in the clubs colours from the 1st team, reserves, boys and girls youth teams, walking football for over 60's, Sunday league teams and this continues to grow. Its place in the community is growing also with strong links being cemented with local schools in the area. Grays Athletic Football Club is a true community club, owned and run by supporters who wish to see the club grow from strength to strength.
