Harry Ayres 6, Goodyear, ‘Flash Lighten” Root

Local man Harry Ayres’s goalscoring exploits attracted the attention of Fulham for whom he signed in July 1946 . He went on to make 38 appearances scoring 8 goals, in June 1950 he transferred to Gillingham making 136 appearances registering 2 goals.
After his playing days were over Harry managed both the Blues and local rivals Tilbury
