Blues have moved quickly to capture the powerful striker after his contract with the conference club was terminated yesterday

Benjamin was a product of West Ham's academy before rising through the ranks at Northampton Town and making his football league debut.

After impressing at Billericay Town last season he was offered a deal with conference side Farnborough Town but his contract was terminated by mutual consent with the Hampshire club yesterday.

At 23 the striker has a wealth of experience at conference and Ryman League level which a delighted Blues manager Jody Brown was keen to highlight: "despite being a young player that can grown and achieve things long term at this club, Joe brings a reasonable amount of experience with him."

Brown has been equally focused on developing a squad that can match his playing philosophy and is convinced the striker will fit in and boost his attacking options.

"He is suited to the general system that we play and the style in which we want to play. He adds power to our side and he's another goal threat" added Brown.

The Blues manager believes he is making a signing for the long term and that the striker can help restore former glories to the club.

"I hope he can become a fans favourite and make a huge number of appearances whilst helping to establish Grays Athletic as one of the top sides in Essex again."
