Blues start their Emirates FA Cup journey when they entertain Essex Senior League Redbridge at Parkside this Saturday who progressed from the Extra Preliminary round courtesy of a 3-1 win against Stansted with one of their goals scored by ex Blue Brian "Ladders "Moses.Redbridge also include in their squad keeper Lewis Green who feature briefly for Blues in the Youth team and back up keeper on occasions, Eljay Worrell,John Mbamara,Sipho Mtyanda, and Calvin Poku.
The last meeting between the two sides was on the 5th March 2013 at Oakside where Blues recorded a 1-0 victory courtesy of a spectacular overhead kick from Junior Baker. The win prolonged Blues unbeaten run on the way to the Ryman North title that season.Redbridge have had a mixed start to the season with one win ,a draw and two defeats ,the win coming in the cup.The fourteen previous meetings between the clubs have resulted in eight wins for the Blues, two draws and 4 defeats.
Blues come into the tie after a 2-0 reversal against AFC Hornchurch although many will conclude a draw would have been a fairer result, the defeat followed a hard earned victory on the opening day at local rivals Tilbury.Blues management will no doubt have warned their squad to guard against complacency when playing a side from a lower division who no doubt will be looking to cause an upset, therefore nothing short of full commitment will be required to ensure progress through to the next round and the prize money that comes with victory.
