Grays and Met Police shared a six goal thriller at Mill Field with the Blues recovering from an early two goal deficit to claim a point and maintain their outside chance of a playoff place.
The Met got off to the best possible start inside the first minute when Joe Turner played in a weak cross which eluded attacker and defender alike and trickled into the net via the post.
Grays looked lethargic in the early stages and went further behind in the 24th minute when Charlie Collins capitalised on a weak clearance firing an unstoppable shot passed Lamar Johnson.
The Met were playing the offside trap effectively although Fortnum-Tomlinson sprung it on two occasions with Met keeper Pain coming to the rescue with smart saves.
Grays gradually saw more of the ball and it was skipper Kenny Beaney who reduced the arrears in the 35th minute firing into the top corner after good work on the left by Roman Michael- Percil.
Tomlinson nearly brought the scores level again springing the offside with only Pain to beat the young keeper did well to turn the goal bound shot round the post.

Grays playing with the wind at their back took the game to the Met pinning the visitors back at the start of the second period ,Corey Davidson's snap shot brought another good save from Pain.
Grays were getting behind the Met back four without creating a clear cut opening.
In the 56th minute Grays pressure brought the equaliser Davidson's lofted pass found Carlos in space inside the box and he made no mistake lashing the ball home past Pain.
The Met still looked dangerous on the break with Leon Smith looking menacing every time he got on the ball.The visitors came close to getting their noses in front Turner did well out wide playing a searching ball into the box that was only just scrambled clear by Johnson and Luke Ifill.
Despite all the Grays pressure it was the Met who went in front in the 81st minute again from a breakaway it was Turner unmarked in the six yard box who drilled
the ball past Johnson via the bar.
The lead was not to last for long Grays were awarded a freekick on the edge of the Met box ,Davidson stepped up and hit a sublime shot into the bottom corner past the diving Pain to bring the scores level.
Both sides had chances in the closing minutes of an entertaining encounter.
