The season in nearly upon us and we take a look at what will be for the Blues the first of a number of Essex derbies.

The Borough's two oldest clubs lock horns in what will be their first League encounter at this level since March 2013.The last meeting played at Rush Green resulted in a 4-2 victory for the Blues courtesy of a brace apiece from Junior Baker and Jeff Hammond with Tony Jacobs and an Aaron Walters penalty replying for the Dockers.Blues were also successful at Chadfields earlier in the season with a Jake Hall strike enough to secure the points.The six league encounters at this level have yielded three wins for each club therefore another keenly fought encounter could be on the cards.

Blues have enjoyed what is for them a settled preseason with manager Jamie Stuart putting together a squad with a blend of youth and experience including former team mates Jamie Slabber and Barry Cogan,and the signing of experienced defender Glenn Wilson.Stuart has also managed to retain the services of fans favourite Joao Carlos,striker Kieron Bishop and the important signing of returning custodian Lamar Johnson.
Preseason has resulted in three wins one draw and two defeats with Stuart promoting youth team players to the first team squad who have all acquitted themselves well.

Tilbury have had a busy preseason winning four drawing one and losing five of their ten games. The Dockers were recently stunned by the death of former player Kevin Malthouse consequently the annual Stan Veness Trophy against the Blues was played in his honour in front of over 500 fans raising £2000 for his family.
The Dockers include former Blues Emile Aitken and Luke Hornsley in their line up.

So the scene is set for an eagerly awaited contest with both teams looking to start on a positive note and secure that all important three points.
