A short trip down the A13 tomorrow Saturday 8th December is the destination for Blues when they take on Barking at Mayesbrook Park in a Bostik League encounter looking to make amends for their controversial defeat last week at the hands of Heybridge Swifts putting and end to their recent fine run of form. Barking suffered a similar setback at home last Saturday going down by the only goal to promotion hopefuls Bowers & Pitsea. Tomorrow will be another difficult game against Justin Gardner's men who includes ex Blues Joe Bruce and Michael Mignot in their ranks, certainly Blues will want to avoid a repeat of last seasons disappointing display and 3-1 reverse.
Barking have experienced a tough time of late with just three wins in their last ten league games although they have met teams who are challenging for promotion. There has only been two previous league encounters between the clubs however the majority of matches have occurred in various cup competitions going back many years most of which were at their spiritual home Vicarage Field, now more familiarity known as Vicarage Shopping Centre. Current leading league goalscorer is Daniel Cheema with four goals.
Blues despite last weeks reverse have enjoyed a successful run of results against difficult opposition and seem to enjoy life on the road with notable wins in their favourite county of Suffolk amongst a few. The confidence gained and team spirit is there for all to see playing with freedom and purpose which will be required as they move into the busy Xmas period.
