Blues make the trip to Park Drive to meet Maldon & Tiptree in a BetVictor North league encounter on Saturday. The Jammers will be playing only their second league game since mid September after their tremendous cup exploits in recent weeks , the highlight being their impending appearance in the 1st Round proper of the Emirates FA Cup when they meet Leyton Orient . Under manager Wayne Brown they have enjoyed a phenomenal start to the season unbeaten after nineteen games . Winning all seven league games they currently sit one place above Blues but with three games in hand. Last Tuesday saw them win 2-0 at Felixstowe & Walton with goals from Charlee Hughes and Danny Parish.
Matches between the clubs are always competitive and Blues fans will recall the title winning season when the Jammers opened up a considerable lead at the top of the table but Blues embarked on a remarkable winning run defeating the Jammers 2-0 at Rush Green to clinch the title. In the corresponding fixture last season the points were shared in a 2-2 draw, at Parkside earlier in that season the Jammers emerged victorious with a 5-0 win, a forgettable afternoon for Blues fans.
Blues will have to be at their best tomorrow if they are to put a halt to their hosts unbeaten start to the season but the signs are there that the new strike partnership of Luke Callander and George Purcell is beginning to gel and if Joao Carlos maintains his strike rate then anything is possible. The only downside for Jim Cooper are the injuries sustained in recent weeks, a definite non starter is Stan Muguo who will be serving a one match ban following his red card against Romford.
