Blues return to cup action tomorrow in the shape of the FA Trophy preliminary round when they entertain BetVictor South Central outfit Bedfont Sports . Tomorrow is also National Non League day in support of Prostate Cancer, the club will be organising a bucket collection on the day.
Bedfont are a relatively young club formed as recently as 2002, having previously operated as a Sunday team the decision was made to move to Saturday football .Time was spent in the Combined Counties league eventually moving up to the Isthmian League and now playing in the BetVictor South Central Division, they sit in 15th place with just one win from their eight games, the win was against last years FA Vase winners Chertsey Town. Sports are managed by Paul Johnson, a familiar face to Blues fans in their squad is Jordan Agathise who played under ex manager Jamie Stuart.
After last weeks disappointing performance Jim Cooper will be looking for a reaction from his squad. The Cambridge defeat was arguably the poorest display under Cooper with apart from a few exceptions the players failed to reach the standards set in earlier games showing a lack of application and effort. Certainly progress and the financial reward for winning at this early stage of the competition should spur the players on with a chance to put behind them the ignominious exit from the FA Cup . New signing from Canvey Island George Purcell unfortunately is cup tied and will not feature tomorrow.
