In this matchday vlog I head to Newmarket as Grays Athletic travel away to face Newmarket Town, also known as The Jockeys, in a competitive league clash. The first half was a scrappy and hard-fought battle, with both sides struggling to find much rhythm early on. Grays Athletic managed to take the lead midway through the half, giving the travelling fans something to celebrate. However, the advantage didn’t last long as Newmarket Town responded just a few minutes later with a brilliant finish to bring the game level. It was an entertaining response from the hosts and the sides went into the break with the score all square. As the second half got underway, The Jockeys started strongly and looked the more dominant side as they searched for a winning goal. Grays responded by changing their shape which helped them look more organised and competitive as the game went on. The match took another twist when Grays defender Charlie Stimson was shown a red card, leaving the visitors with ten men for the closing stages. Despite the pressure from Newmarket Town, Grays showed real resilience to hang on and secure a valuable away point.
