Jon Ashton signs for the Blues

Grays Athletic are delighted to announce that central defender Jon Ashton is returning to the club and has signed for the 2017/18 season.

Jon began his career at Leicester City, making his Premier League debut for them in March 2002 before enjoying successful periods at Oxford United and Rushden & Diamonds.

He played in our colours between 2007-2009 and during that time he was named Player's Player Of The Year and Supporter's Player Of The Year.

After his time with us, Jon went on to have a long association with Stevenage, helping them obtain their football league status and promotion to League 1.

He moved to Crawley Town, before joining Braintree Town last summer.

Jon joined the Blues last season in a short loan spell from Braintree
