The History: To many football fans, the name Leatherhead conjures images of Chris "Leatherhead Lip" Kelly and the heroic cup runs of the mid 1970s and just a few years before this at the start of that decade Leatherhead beat Grays 3-0 in the 1970/71 FA Cup at Fetcham Grove. In more recent times the balance is slightly more in The Blues favour. Since 1997 Grays are yet to experience defeat to The Tanners, and have won 3 of the seven matches played. Of course that means that the other 4 have been draws and that includes the meeting at Mill Field back in August this season that finished 1- 1 with the Grays Athletic goal coming from Freddie Lapado.

The Form: While Grays were in cup action on Tuesday night, Leatherhead were playing one of the favourites, Maidstone United, in the league and went down 2-1. In their last 6 league games The Tanners have managed 1 win, 2 draws and 3 defeats. They do not get beaten too heavily though as they have managed to score the same amount of goals as they have conceded during this period (11). Grays lost the aforementioned Essex Cup game to Conference South side Concord Rangers on penalties after a youthful side had played out a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes. In the league, Grays got back to winning ways last Saturday by beating Witham Town 4-0.

The Players to Watch: Leatherhead defender Joe Bruce will be a familiar face to Blues fans as will another ex-blue, Adam Green. The left back has joined The Tanners on loan from Dartford. Grays could give a debut to new signing James Stevens who has joined from Witham Town and scored 20 goals from midfield last season.
