The young midfielder has returned to the Hornets, extending the loan spell which commenced in mid-September

Midfielder Troy Williams, 19, has returned to Ryman Division One South club Horsham in an extension to a loan spell which commenced in mid-September.

Troy featured in seven games for the Hornets, scoring twice and recording five assists.

With fierce competition for places in the Blues midfield, manager Jody Brown felt it was important for the player's ongoing development as well as Grays Athletic's potential future progress to get Troy back to playing competitive matches.

Brown, announcing his decision to send Williams back out on loan said earlier today "it's important for Troy to be playing at this stage of his career. There has been lots of interest in him but he's happy at Horsham and I feel it's important he's at a club where he has a lot of responsibility to create and score goals."

Brown also feels Troy could one day make a midfield berth his own.

"We have extremely experienced players in Troy's position but they cannot play forever and if Troy continues to develop he cold be their natural successor."

Williams loan is in addition to Lamar Johnson's with the 'keeper joining up with Tilbury for a month and Brown hinted there could be more players sent out to gain valuable playing time and experience.

"I'll be looking at getting one or two more out on loan to get much needed 1st team football and competitive match fitness."
