Blues 1- 4 AFC Hornchurch
It wasn't to be third time lucky on Wednesday night as the Blues saw themselves beaten by a physical Hornchurch side.
Manager Jamie Stuart took the opportunity to rest some of his signed squad fielding a number of trialists against their near neighbours.
Seb Brown made his first appearance for the club in goal playing behind a makeshift back line and the lack of understanding between them was a contributing factor to the goals conceded.
The visitors adopted a physical approach so much so that young full back Ronnie O' Donnel limped out of the game in the opening minutes following a heavy challenge by an Urchins defender.
Blues found themselves three goals down in the opening period but they did come close from an Ade Cole free kick which struck the upright,Cole again looked the pick of the Blues on show.
Manager Stuart made frequent changes as he looked to assess the many trialists at his disposal
The second period again saw a number of substitutions and changes to formation with players interchanging positions which affected the fluidity of movements
Blues did manage to register a goal when Kwabene Osai netted with a floated effort which deceived the visitors keeper, and again they were denied by the woodwork.
The visitors completed the scoring with a fourth goal after a pass was intecepted on the half way line.
After three games and a number of trialists assessed the coaching staff will now have an idea of who they will be looking to sign and if any additions are needed as the serious business setting up systems for the remaining preseason friendlies and the season ahead.
