Aside from Stephen Northwood returning in goal, the starting line-up was the same as against Essex United. Starting for AFC Hornchurch were two ex-Blues; Darren Behcet and Tommy Black. Whilst the former never made an appearance for the first team during his short stay in early 2009, Black made 11 appearances after joining in March of the same year.
The first half was a fairly close affair with the only goal of the game coming in the 27th minute as Frankie Curley pounced on a deflected shot from Lewis Smith, to give Northwood in the home goal no chance. Joao Carlos had appeared to be fouled in the build up to the goal, but the referee waved on and allowed play to continue.
The home side did have a couple of chances to get on the score sheet with Eljay Worrell beating the offside trap but unable to convert, as well as Jean-Michel Sigere who headed wide from six yards.
Hakan made plenty of changes at half time and throughout the second half as almost all of the squad got some much needed time on the pitch.
Next up for The Blues is a trip to Thames Road, home of another Ryman Premier side Concord Rangers. Kick off is at 19:45, and for those travelling to the match the address is Thames Road, Canvey Island, Essex, SS8 0HH.
