After nine months and forty-two competitive matches the season finally comes to an end when we travel to Suffolk to meet relegated Mildenhall Town. After two seasons at Ryman level The Hall despite an excellent 3-1 win away at Felixstowe & Walton will say goodbye to Bostik League football. It has to be said that the Suffolk club are probably the most friendly and hospitable club in the league, all at our club will be sad to see them go but we hope they can regroup in the close season and make a speedy return. Back in September the teams met at Parkside where Hall snatched a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw after Blues had squandered a number of chances to win the game.
Just two wins in 2019 - the win at Felixstowe was their first since the 12th January tells its own story although they did have a creditable draw with Heybridge Swifts back in February but unfortunately they were unable to build on that encouraging result.
Blues will be looking to round off the season with a win to cement a position in the top half of the table but must guard against complacency against a side who will be looking to put on a good performance in front of their supporters in their final game at this level. For club skipper Stan Muguo tomorrow should mark a milestone if selected when he will be making his one-hundredth appearance for the club.
Last Monday a late penalty from Joao Carlos ensured Blues of a point ending a run of defeats against Romford, the game followed the same pattern of previous encounters when despite enjoying the lions share of possession Blues couldn't breach the Barking rearguard in open play.
For Jim Cooper the final game of his "pre season " tenure will provide a further look at his charges and shape his thoughts for next season.
