After Wednesday evenings Velocity cup win Blues return to league action when Dereham Town visit Parkside on Sunday. Blues will be looking for three points to ensure they keep in the promotion hunt after a disappointing reverse at Great Wakering coming at a cost on the injury front with Steve King and Ashley Miller limping out of the game. In the corresponding fixture last season Blues ran out emphatic winners with a 5-1 win - in stark contrast to the previous season when the Magpies emerged victorious by 6-1 !
The Magpies currently sit in tenth place in the table with ten points from their nine games winning two , with four draws and three defeats. They have yet to win at home in the league - seven of their ten points collected on the road. In the last two games they secured a creditable 2-0 away win at Coggeshall Town and snatched a late 1-1 home draw to Hullbridge Sports.
A 3-2 Velocity cup win on Wednesday evening made up for Blues disappointing defeat last Saturday at Great Wakering Rovers when they failed to match their hosts physicality throughout the 90 minutes. Blues form has been patchy of late but they still sit in third place in the league and like last week if they secure a win and results go the right way they can go to the top of the table but only if they give full commitment over the ninety minutes.
