Having progressed past Waltham Abbey after a replay, Grays Athletic travel to Surrey where they face Whyteleafe in the FA Trophy 1st Qualifying Round.

Whyteleafe play in the Ryman Division One South, where they sit 19th out of 22, having won two, draw two and lost the remaining seven fixtures. Their top goal scorers so far this season are Jay Garrick (5) and Scott Simpson (3).

All of Simpson's goals came in one match as he scored a hat-trick in their 4-3 win over North Greenford United 4-3 in the FA Trophy Preliminary Round on Saturday 8th October.

Simpson said that he's hoping a win over the Blues will help kick start their season; "Hopefully playing a team like Grays will mean all the boys raise their game and put in a good performance."

The last time Grays and Whyteleafe met was in November 2003, in an Isthmian League Cup game. The Blues ran out 2-0 winners, with goals from Freddy Eastwood and Kieran Edwards. The two sides last met in the FA Trophy in October 1998, Grays lost 3-2.

Right-back Jerome Ingram, who featured for Grays at the start of last season plays for Whyteleafe, having scored once this season. Ingram made 12 starts for the Blues. Also one-time former Blue, Fabian Batchelor is likely to line-up for the Leafe. He made his single appearance for Grays as a substitute in a 4-1 defeat at Histon in March 2009.

Kick-off is 15:00 at;
Church Road,
